Mission HVAC 2019 – MClemons

Michael Clemons, Student – Des Moines Area Community College

Ankeny, Iowa

Michael doesn’t want to be chained to a desk – he’s excited by the HVAC field and the hands-on work it requires. His dream is to own his own HVAC business in his hometown, Harlan, IA.

Beginning his involvement with HVAC in 2015 as a S.T.E.M. instructor, Michael now conducts all maintenance for Mills Fleet Farm’s Building. He participated in his school’s work study program, working in Conductix Wampfler’s assembly department and for Great-Dain Heating, Cooling & Plumbing. His experience has taught him tips and tricks that allow him to complete his job more effectively and efficiently. Michael decided to pursue HVAC education when he realized he didn’t fully understand how HVAC systems work.

Even in his spare time, Michael enjoys doing hands-on activities, working on small engines like vintage mowers as well as doing electrical work. He loves to tinker with things to learn how they work. Michael is also an Eagle Scout and Assistant Scout Manager for Boy Scouts of America and is a member of Knights of Columbus.

Michael is pursuing a degree from Des Moines Area Community College in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He aspires to learn as much as he can about the HVAC industry so he can help customers understand their HVAC systems.
